A man whose family claimed he had recently experienced hallucinations and symptoms of illusion slashed six people with a knife in downtown Shanghai on Wednesday night, local police said on Thursday. Ten people were injured in the incident but none of the wounds were life-threatening.

The suspect, surnamed Shen, 39, was driving a car with his mother and girlfriend on board when it collided into a non-motorized vehicle and two motor vehicles at an intersection in Xuhui district, causing injuries to three people.
